Privacy notice

This notice explains how Zero to MVP PC handles personal data collected through zerotomvp.dev.

Who is responsible

Zero to MVP PC is the controller for the processing described here.

What we collect

The information depends on how you use the site.

Enquiries

When you ask about a workshop, request a review, start a build conversation, or use the contact form, we collect:

  • your name;
  • your work email;
  • your company, if you provide it;
  • your message;
  • the type of enquiry;
  • the time the enquiry was submitted; and
  • operational records needed to deliver and troubleshoot the message.

Toolkit requests

When you tell us about a missing tool or an AI-related concern, we collect:

  • your message;
  • your email, if you provide it;
  • the time the request was submitted; and
  • operational records needed to deliver and troubleshoot the message.

Zero to MVP updates

When you subscribe to Zero to MVP updates, we collect:

  • your email;
  • the list you joined;
  • when a list membership was last changed and where you most recently subscribed;
  • the version of the privacy notice shown when you subscribed;
  • which lists are active; and
  • records needed to honour a preference or unsubscribe request.

We store the subscription management token needed to honour a request.

Live talk sessions

Some of our talks have a live page where the audience can vote in polls, ask questions and enter a raffle. When you join a talk's live page, we collect:

  • the nickname you choose, which must be unique in that talk's room and does not need to be your real name;
  • a random session identifier that our server issues when you join, and a random identifier your browser creates for the join request so that a retry does not join you twice;
  • the talk you joined, when you joined, and the version of this notice the page linked to;
  • your answer to each poll you vote in, and when you gave or changed it;
  • each question you ask, with your nickname and the time you asked it;
  • if you are drawn in the raffle, that you were drawn and whether you confirmed you were in the room;
  • a record of what happened in the room and when, such as joining, voting and asking questions, alongside the speaker's actions. It is linked to your session on the live page but does not itself contain your email or nickname;
  • if you give one, your email, when you gave it, and the version of the email's purposes that the page showed you; and
  • if you say yes to Zero to MVP updates on the live page, a record of that consent: the exact question you were shown and its version, which prompt asked it, the talk, and when you said yes.

Joining the room enters you in that talk's raffle. Your email is optional. You can give it when you join, or later: after you ask a question, and if you win the raffle, the page offers once to add it. The page asks for no other contact details.

We use your email only for that talk: to contact you if you win the raffle, to reply to or follow up on the questions you asked during the talk, and to count you once in the raffle if you join more than once with the same email. Giving it does not subscribe you to anything. After you give it, the page asks separately whether you would also like Zero to MVP updates; only a yes subscribes you, and saying no or not answering changes nothing.

Your email is never shown on the projected screen, on anyone's phone, or to the speaker's presentation software. After the talk, the speaker can see which questions came with an email, and that email, so that they can reply.

Poll results are shown on the projected screen and on everyone's phones as totals only, never as who chose what. Everyone who has joined the same room can read the questions asked there, without nicknames. The speaker sees each question with the nickname of the person who asked it. If the speaker puts a question on the projected screen, it is shown without your nickname. If you are drawn in the raffle, your nickname is shown on the projected screen and on every phone in the room, even if you are not there to confirm and the draw moves on. While a question or a raffle nickname is on screen, anyone who opens the talk's live page can also see it.

The speaker's presentation software, running on the speaker's own computer, reads the room's questions with their nicknames. If the speaker chooses to have a question read out and answered by the talk's AI presentation assistant, the answer is written by a model running on that computer, and the question and the answer are sent to ElevenLabs to produce the spoken voice.

Your browser keeps your session identifier in its local storage, so that the page can bring your session back after a reload or a lost connection. It also keeps any votes or questions that have not reached our server yet, until they do. The session identifier is the only thing that links your browser to your session: anyone who has it can vote and ask as you in that room. Requests from the live page carry the session identifier in their web addresses, so it can also appear in the technical records described below.

Technical information

Our hosting, security, analytics, and error-monitoring systems may process technical information such as an IP address, pages viewed, referrer, approximate location, browser and device details, request timing, and error diagnostics. Vercel Web Analytics provides aggregated, anonymised website-usage statistics without advertising cookies. We configure our application not to send enquiry or subscription content to analytics or error logs.

Why we use the information

We use enquiry data to read and respond to the request, decide who on our team should handle it, and keep the operational record needed to follow it through. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who approach the studio and operating our services. Where your request is made to take steps toward a contract with you, that processing is also necessary to take those steps.

We use toolkit-request data to assess the problem, decide whether it should inform a tool we build, and reply when an email is provided. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in improving the toolkit from requests people choose to send us.

We use a Zero to MVP updates email to send occasional messages about building software with AI: our own tools, workshops, talks and work, and industry news we think is worth your time. Our legal basis is your consent. Submitting the subscription form activates the subscription immediately. We send a receipt that says you are subscribed and provides a link to manage preferences or unsubscribe. You may withdraw consent at any time by using that link. Withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before it.

We use live-session data to run a talk's polls, questions and raffle while it is given: to count and show the results, to let the speaker see and choose questions to answer, and to draw a raffle winner and check that they are in the room. We also use it after the talk to review how the talk ran, for example how long the room took to answer each poll. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in running interactive talks that people choose to join. We do not use live-session data to send you marketing.

If you give an email on a talk's live page, we use it to contact you if you win the raffle and to reply to or follow up on the questions you asked during that talk. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in running the raffle and responding to your questions, which you make possible by choosing to give an email. We do not use it for anything else unless you separately say yes to Zero to MVP updates.

If you say yes to Zero to MVP updates on a talk's live page, we subscribe the email you gave there, exactly as the subscription form does: our legal basis is your consent, the subscription is active immediately, we send the same receipt with a link to manage preferences or unsubscribe, and you may withdraw consent at any time by using that link.

We use limited technical information to understand aggregate website usage and to secure, operate, and diagnose the site and its forms. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in improving the site and keeping the service reliable and secure.

We do not use this information for automated decisions or profiling.

Who receives the information

We use service providers to run the site and deliver messages:

  • Hetzner hosts our application and databases.
  • Vercel hosts the website, provides privacy-friendly aggregate Web Analytics, and renders the email content used for form notifications.
  • Scaleway Transactional Email sends email.
  • Migadu receives email sent to our studio inbox.
  • Sentry provides error and performance monitoring.
  • ElevenLabs produces the spoken voice when the speaker has a talk's AI presentation assistant read out and answer an audience question.
  • Our private Mattermost installation receives an internal notification so the team can respond.

These providers process information under our instructions for the services they provide. Access inside Zero to MVP is limited to people who need the information to respond, operate the service, or meet legal obligations.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect legal rights, or to professional advisers who are bound by confidentiality.

International transfers

Some providers may process information outside the European Economic Area. Where personal data is transferred to a country that does not have an adequacy decision from the European Commission, we rely on an approved safeguard such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. You may contact us to ask about the safeguard used for a particular transfer.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries and toolkit requests are kept for 24 months from submission, unless the information becomes part of an active client relationship or must be kept longer to establish, exercise, or defend a legal claim.
  • An active Zero to MVP updates subscription is kept while you remain subscribed.
  • After you unsubscribe, we keep a suppression record for 12 months so we can honour the request and avoid adding the address back by mistake.
  • Live-session data, including the room's record, an email you gave on the live page and the record of a yes to Zero to MVP updates given there, is kept in our database. We have not yet set an automatic deletion period for it, so it stays there until we delete it. You can ask us to delete your live-session data at any time; tell us the talk and the nickname you used.
  • Emails in which we reply to or follow up on the questions you asked during a talk, and your replies to them, are kept in our mailbox for 90 days.
  • A Zero to MVP updates subscription started from a talk's live page is kept like any other Zero to MVP updates subscription, as described above.
  • The session identifier and any unsent votes or questions stay in your browser until you clear this site's data.
  • Security and diagnostic records are kept only for the period needed to investigate and protect the service, subject to the retention settings of the service involved.

When a retention period ends, we delete or anonymise the information unless the law requires us to keep it.

Your choices and rights

You may ask us to:

  • give you access to your personal data;
  • correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • delete your data;
  • restrict how we use it;
  • provide data you gave us in a portable format, where the right applies;
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests; or
  • withdraw consent for Zero to MVP updates.

Send a request to hello@zerotomvp.dev. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on it. We normally respond within one month.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Hellenic Data Protection Authority at dpa.gr, or with the data-protection authority where you live or work.

Is the information required?

The forms identify which fields are required. We cannot respond to an enquiry without the required contact details and message. We cannot send Zero to MVP updates without an email. The email on the toolkit-request form is optional; without it, we can consider the request but cannot reply to you. To join a talk's live page you need a nickname, which can be anything; you do not need to join to follow the talk. The email on the live page is optional; without it, you can still take part, but we cannot reply to your questions or contact you if you win the raffle.

Cookies and similar technology

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party advertising trackers. Vercel Web Analytics does not use cookies and reports aggregate, anonymised website usage. The site may use technical storage that is necessary to operate, secure, or diagnose the service.

Our API sets a cookie named zmvp_api_instance. It keeps your browser's requests on the same server, which the live page's real-time connection needs. It identifies one of our servers, not you, and your browser deletes it when you close it.

A talk's live page keeps your live session and any unsent votes or questions in your browser's local storage, and a one-time reload marker in its session storage, so that the page can reload itself once when this notice changes. Its real-time connection to our server uses your session identifier to receive the room's updates.

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice when our forms, providers, or legal obligations change. The date at the top shows the latest revision. If a change materially affects an active Zero to MVP updates subscription, we will explain it through an appropriate channel.
